MEDICAL HELICOPTER “HELI -SMUR ” IN MARRAKECH

The Red City’s emergency services will finance airambulance helicopters for the emergency cases of Mohamed VIUniversity Hospital Center (CHU). An entirely equipped and medicalized helicopter; HELI-SMUR; will soon be tested in Marrakech (300 square km). It is a medically equipped helicopter for the emergency transportation of the injured patients, especially from the hilly area of Haouz, where normal vehicles cannot be more efficient. Marrakech becomes a real lab for the emergencies program. The “ANSAM” Association welcomes this longtime waited initiative to develop the international medical care sector. Mr. Abdelhamid El Mouadden, President of the association, congratulated Pr. El Ouardi, minister of health, for this incentive.Marrakech has enough resources to rapidly launch this service. Two large hospitals, in addition to the CHU Mohammed VI, all three contain hospital and medical services, surgery rooms and intensive care units. The extension of the university hospital offers around 500 additional beds. The mobile units’ project will alsostart from Marrakech. It is a solid fast chain of intervention of which the concept consists in bringing a doctor as quickly as possible to the place of the accident. In Morocco, more than six people out of 10 die before arriving atthe hospital. And from the 37% who arrive at the hospital, 7% of them arrive only to die there. The implementation of a “fast chain of intervention” throughout Morocco will save human lives. Also, each of these cities (Oujda, Casablanca, Marrakech…) must have an urgent pre-hospital medical service, emergency medical regulations by the urgent medical assistance service (SAMU) and a good intensive care unit. The reorganization and the reinforcement of the hospital and pre-hospital medical emergencies are priorities of the ministry of health. Goal is: Develop a policy of closeness support by the reorganization, the restructure of the emergency services equipment as well as the implementation of the public SAMU.
